Environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk has said he will end his hunger strike only if the government assures that no legal action will be taken against protesters who participated in the Climate Justice Party (CJP) march. Wangchuk also requested compensation for students affected by the protests and a parliamentary discussion on the issue. He stated that without such an assurance, he would be forced to continue his fast indefinitely. The activist, who has been on a hunger strike to draw attention to climate and education concerns, expressed a desire to return to his work and students once the government provides the guarantee. His condition comes after days of protests and demands for climate action and education reforms. The government has yet to respond to his demands.
