Lakers Sign Matisse Thybulle to One-Year Deal

By TrendingWire Newsroom

The Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to a one-year contract with defensive specialist Matisse Thybulle, adding depth to their wing rotation. Thybulle, known for his elite perimeter defense, spent the past two seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers after starting his career with the Philadelphia 76ers. The 27-year-old was selected in the first round of the 2019 NBA draft and quickly established himself as a disruptor, earning All-Defensive Second Team honors in 2022. Despite limited offensive production, Thybulle's ability to guard multiple positions and create turnovers makes him a valuable role player. The Lakers have revamped their roster this offseason, aiming to improve on defense after missing the playoffs last season. Thybulle joins a team led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis, competing in a loaded Western Conference. The one-year contract gives both sides flexibility; Thybulle can prove his value and potentially earn a longer deal, while the Lakers address a need for perimeter stoppers. The deal is reported to be for the veteran minimum, helping the team stay under salary cap constraints. Lakers fans hope Thybulle can replicate the defensive impact he showed earlier in his career.
