Josh Kerr Breaks Men's Mile World Record in London
By TrendingWire Newsroom
Great Britain's Josh Kerr set a new world record in the men's mile at the London Diamond League on Saturday, smashing a mark that had stood for 27 years. Kerr, a middle-distance runner, finished the race in 3 minutes and 43.13 seconds, beating the previous record of 3:43.13 set by Morocco's Hicham El Guerrouj in 1999. The 26-year-old Scottish athlete produced a stunning performance in front of a home crowd at the London Stadium, leading from start to finish. Diamond League meetings are among the top events in track and field, attracting the world's best athletes. Kerr's achievement adds to his growing reputation, having already won a world championship silver medal in the 1500 meters last year. The previous mile world record was one of the longest-standing marks in athletics, and Kerr's run is considered one of the greatest moments in British distance running history.
