Saudi Arabia tops global tourism revenue growth, report says

Saudi Arabia ranked first in the world for growth in international tourism revenue during the first quarter of 2025, according to the annual report of the Quality of Life Program. The program, a key initiative under Saudi Vision 2030, contributed 78 billion Saudi riyals to the country's GDP and created 387,000 jobs. The report highlighted tourism as one of the strongest sectors. During the summer, Saudi Arabia welcomed over 32 million domestic and international visitors, a 26 percent increase from the previous season. Tourism spending exceeded 53.2 billion riyals, up 15 percent. International tourist arrivals surged 102 percent, far outpacing the global average of 3 percent and the Middle East average of 44 percent. Beyond tourism, the program boosted other areas. The entertainment sector expanded to 954 licensed venues and hosted 40 unique events. More than 42,000 people participated in training programs, and 33 startups were supported. In sports, 59.1 percent of adults now engage in physical activity. Cultural event days reached 6,314, more than double the target. The report also noted progress in urban development and municipal services, with citizen satisfaction reaching 85 percent. The Quality of Life Program aims to enhance living standards and promote sustainable development, aligning with Saudi Arabia's broader Vision 2030 goals.
