Mother of murderer jailed for removing knife from crime scene

By TrendingWire Newsroom

A mother has been sentenced to three years in prison for removing the knife used by her son to kill a student. Kiran Kaur, 53, took the weapon from the scene where her son, Vickrum Digwa, stabbed 18-year-old Henry Nowak to death in December 2025 in Southampton. Kaur admitted assisting an offender by taking the knife back to her family home. Digwa was previously sentenced to life in prison for the murder. The knife was a key piece of evidence, and its removal hindered the investigation. The case has drawn significant public attention due to the nature of the crime and the subsequent legal proceedings. The court heard that Kaur's actions were deliberate and aimed at helping her son avoid justice. Henry Nowak was a student at the time of the attack. His family expressed relief that Kaur has been held accountable for her role in the aftermath of the murder. The judge emphasized the seriousness of interfering with evidence in a murder case, noting that such actions undermine the justice system. Kaur will serve her sentence in prison.
