Auburn’s Golesh Brings Quarterback Brown from South Florida

By TrendingWire Newsroom

New Auburn head coach Alex Golesh has moved quickly to bolster his roster, bringing quarterback Byrum Brown with him from South Florida. Brown, who played under Golesh at USF, is expected to compete for the starting job in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Golesh, who was hired by Auburn earlier this offseason, is confident that Brown can thrive at the highest level of college football. “He’s a talented player with a strong work ethic,” Golesh said. “I’ve seen him develop, and I believe he’s ready for the challenge.” Brown had a standout career at South Florida, where he threw for over 3,000 yards and 25 touchdowns last season. His ability to make plays both in the pocket and on the run made him a key target for Golesh as the Tigers look to rebuild their offense. Auburn, a traditional powerhouse in the SEC, has struggled in recent years. Golesh’s hiring and the addition of Brown signal a fresh start for the program. The Tigers have lacked consistency at quarterback, and Brown’s experience in Golesh’s system could provide stability. Brown will have to adapt to the faster speed and stronger defenses of the SEC, but Golesh is optimistic. “Byrum has the mindset and the skills to succeed,” Golesh added. “We’re excited to have him on the Plains.” The move is one of several expected changes as Golesh reshapes the Auburn roster ahead of the upcoming season. Spring practice will give Brown a chance to prove himself.
