Netflix is expanding its adaptation of the popular manga series 'Parasyte' with a new live-action show titled 'Parasyte: Tamiya'. The streaming service announced that the series will star Shioli Kutsuna, known for her roles in 'Sanctuary' and 'Deadpool 2'. 'Parasyte: Tamiya' is expected to stream on Netflix in 2027.
The series is being developed by Yeon Sang-ho, who previously created 'Parasyte: The Grey', a 2024 live-action adaptation that brought the manga to the screen. Yeon Sang-ho has co-written the scripts for 'Tamiya' with Ryu Yong-jae. The production company Wowpoint is also involved.
The 'Parasyte' manga, written and illustrated by Hitoshi Iwaaki, originally ran in the late 1980s and early 1990s. It tells the story of alien parasites that invade Earth and take over human hosts. The manga has inspired multiple adaptations, including an anime series and the recent Korean live-action series 'Parasyte: The Grey'.
Details about the plot of 'Tamiya' remain under wraps, but it will exist within the same universe as 'The Grey'. Fans of the franchise can expect more news as the 2027 release approaches.
