HBO has ordered a five-episode limited series titled The Trial of Louise Woodward, based on the true story of the 1997 case involving a British au pair accused of causing the death of a child in her care. Meghann Fahy, a two-time Emmy nominee known for The White Lotus, will star. The series was created by Matthew Barry (Industry), who also serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Director Susanne Bier, an Oscar and Emmy winner, is among the executive producers. The limited series will explore the shocking events of the case, which captured international attention when 18-year-old Louise Woodward was charged with the death of 8-month-old Matthew Eappen in Massachusetts. Barry’s script will delve into the legal proceedings and media frenzy surrounding the trial. Production details have not yet been announced.
