US Rejects Iran's Claim of Troop Casualties in Syria Attack
By TrendingWire Newsroom
The United States military has dismissed an Iranian claim that American troops were killed or captured during an attack on a US command center in Syria. The denial came from US Central Command, which posted on social media that the report is false. "No U.S. troops in the region have recently been killed or captured," the command said in a statement.
The Iranian claim alleged that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) attacked the al-Tanf Garrison in Syria, resulting in American casualties. Al-Tanf is a US military outpost near the Syrian border with Iraq and Jordan, used to train local forces combating the Islamic State group. The base has been a point of tension between the US and Iran-backed militias in the region.
While the US firmly rejected the specific claim, it did not comment on whether an attack actually occurred. The area has seen periodic skirmishes, with US forces often targeting Iranian-aligned fighters. This latest denial underscores the ongoing information war between Washington and Tehran.
No further details were provided by US Central Command, which oversees American military operations in the Middle East.
