Mamdani said these actions continue months after a ceasefire took effect, adding that American taxpayers fund the bombs used in the conflict. He stated that the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu for a reason and that anyone with a conscience should recognize the devastation and see that Netanyahu belongs before a court. Mamdani called on the US government to enforce the warrant if Netanyahu enters the country. The remarks come amid ongoing international legal efforts regarding the war in Gaza. Mamdani's statement has drawn attention as he is a prominent elected official in New York, a city with a large Jewish and Palestinian diaspora.
