Israeli minister says US war on Iran is best for Israel, but Israel won't join

By TrendingWire Newsroom

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has stated that Israel has no interest in taking part in the renewed US military campaign against Iran. Speaking at an annual conference, Smotrich described the current situation—where the United States is fighting Iran—as ideal for Israel, as long as Israelis are not directly involved in the fighting. "Israel has no interest in joining the campaign—the current situation is the best for us," Smotrich said, according to local media. His remarks come amid ongoing military operations between the US and Iran, which began with coordinated attacks in late February. Smotrich is a far-right politician who has previously called for Israeli occupation of Gaza and the establishment of settlements there. The minister's comments highlight a desire for Israel to benefit from US actions against Iran without committing its own forces. The conflict has already led to Iranian retaliation against US assets in the region. Smotrich's statement underscores Israel's strategic position of supporting US efforts while avoiding direct military engagement.
