Cathay Pacific Delays Dubai and Riyadh Flights Amid Renewed US-Iran Tensions

By TrendingWire Newsroom

Cathay Pacific Airways, Hong Kong's flagship carrier, has postponed the resumption of direct flights to Dubai and Riyadh, citing escalating tensions between the United States and Iran. The airline announced on Friday that its daily passenger service to Dubai will be delayed until October 25, and its four weekly flights to Riyadh will now resume on October 26. Earlier this month, Cathay Pacific had planned to restart both routes on September 1, after a period of relative calm in the region. However, recent developments, including attacks attributed to the US and Iran, have prompted the airline to reassess the security situation. Cathay Pacific had suspended flights to these Middle Eastern destinations in early 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and like many airlines, has been gradually restoring its network. The decision reflects the ongoing volatility in the Middle East, where geopolitical instability continues to affect international travel. The airline emphasizes that passenger safety remains its top priority and will continue to monitor the situation closely. Travelers with bookings on these routes are advised to check for updates from the airline regarding rebooking or refund options.
