Vibrations from waves and rivers could help make clean fuels

Scientists at City University of Hong Kong have found a way to turn mechanical vibrations into useful chemicals. This charge can split water into hydrogen and oxygen, or help produce hydrogen peroxide, a valuable chemical for cleaning and industry. Hydrogen is a clean fuel that only produces water when burned. Making it from water without using electricity could reduce pollution. The method works at room temperature and pressure, using simple equipment. The team believes this could be a cheap and green way to make fuels and chemicals. Many places have constant vibrations from natural or man-made sources. The new technology could turn these wasted vibrations into useful products. The researchers are now working to make the process more efficient and scalable. This breakthrough combines materials science and chemistry to solve energy problems. It offers a potential path to produce clean energy from everyday movements, without adding carbon to the atmosphere.
