Rooney: Keep Tuchel as England Manager Unless Guardiola Comes
By TrendingWire Newsroom
Wayne Rooney has offered his opinion on the future of the England men's football team coaching position. The former England striker believes the Football Association (FA) should continue with current manager Thomas Tuchel. However, Rooney said the only reason to make a change would be if Pep Guardiola, the famous Manchester City manager, became available.
Rooney, who played for England 120 times, shared his thoughts during a recent interview. He praised Tuchel for his experience and success at club level, including winning the Champions League with Chelsea. According to Rooney, Tuchel has the skills to lead the national team effectively. But he acknowledged that Guardiola is one of the best managers in the world, and if he were free, it would be hard to ignore that opportunity.
The FA hired Tuchel earlier this year to replace Gareth Southgate. Tuchel is a German coach who previously managed Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich. His contract with England runs through the 2026 World Cup. Rooney's comment comes as England prepares for upcoming international matches.
Not everyone agrees with Rooney. Some fans think the FA should look for a younger, English manager. Others support Tuchel. For now, the FA has not commented on Rooney's suggestion. Guardiola remains under contract with Manchester City until 2025.
This discussion is common in football: who should lead a top national team? Rooney's view adds to the debate, but no changes are expected soon.
