Israeli Airstrike Kills Family of Five in Gaza

An Israeli airstrike in Gaza City killed a family of five, including three children and their parents, on Saturday, according to Gaza’s civil defence agency. The attack hit a residential apartment in the northwest of the city. The only survivor was another child who was not at home at the time. This was part of a series of Israeli strikes that left at least 11 Palestinians dead. Three more people died in an airstrike in the Zeitoun neighbourhood, and a woman was killed by artillery fire on a tent sheltering displaced people nearby. Two others were killed in separate attacks elsewhere in Gaza. A fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas remains in place, but it has not stopped the violence. Efforts to negotiate a lasting peace deal have stalled, and both sides continue to trade blame for the ongoing bloodshed. The deaths come amid a broader conflict that has devastated Gaza, with thousands killed and much of the territory reduced to rubble. International calls for a ceasefire have so far failed to bring a permanent end to hostilities.
