eBay has agreed to pay $56 million to a Massachusetts couple who were terrorised by company employees in a cyberstalking campaign that included anonymous deliveries of live cockroaches, spiders, fly larvae, a bloody pig mask, and a funeral wreath. The settlement resolves a lawsuit filed by the couple, who said the harassment began with threatening direct messages on social media before escalating into packages sent to their home. According to court documents, eBay employees orchestrated the campaign after the couple, who run a newsletter, posted critical coverage of the company. The employees also sent threatening messages and tracked the couple's movements. The U.S. Department of Justice previously brought criminal charges against seven former eBay employees, who pleaded guilty to stalking and witness tampering. The company has apologised and said it cooperated with the investigation. The $56 million settlement, reported by NDTV, is among the largest ever in a cyberstalking case.
