The release date puts the movie in competition with Disney's "The Bluey Movie" and Black Bear's "Jason Statham Stole My Bike." Universal has a strong track record with music biopics, having handled overseas distribution for the Michael Jackson film "Michael" and producing hits like "Straight Outta Compton" and "8 Mile."
