Netflix is expanding its 'Parasyte' universe with a new live-action series titled 'Parasyte: Tamiya'. The show is a follow-up to last year's 'Parasyte: The Grey' and is directed by Yeon Sang-ho, known for 'Hellbound'. The series will star Japanese actress Shioli Kutsuna as Ryoko Tamiya, a beloved character from the original manga who is a blend of human and monster.
Yeon Sang-ho developed the series and co-wrote the script with Ryu Yong-jae. Production will be handled by Wowpoint, the company behind Yeon's previous works. According to reports, the series is set to stream on Netflix in 2027.
'Parasyte: Tamiya' marks another collaboration between Netflix and Yeon Sang-ho, who previously directed 'Parasyte: The Grey'. The new series will explore a similar world where parasitic creatures infect humans, but will focus on the complex character of Ryoko Tamiya. Fans of the original manga can expect a faithful adaptation of the fan-favorite parasite.
Further details about the plot and casting are yet to be revealed.
