BTS has announced it will not submit its music for consideration at the 69th Grammy Awards, scheduled for February 7, 2027. The decision was made public on Wednesday when all seven members—RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook—posted an identical statement on their individual Instagram accounts. The news comes just over a month after the Recording Academy introduced a new category for Asian pop music performance, which would have applied to the 2027 ceremony. No reason was given for the group's decision, and it remains unclear whether BTS plans to submit for future Grammys. The group has previously been nominated for multiple Grammy Awards but has only won once, for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance in 2023 for their collaboration with Coldplay, "My Universe." The 69th Grammy Awards will take place in Los Angeles. BTS is currently on an extended break as members fulfill mandatory military service in South Korea, with Jin and J-Hope already enlisted and others expected to follow. The group's label, Big Hit Music, has not commented on the announcement.
