The Iranian army announced on Wednesday that it launched a fresh wave of drone attacks targeting US military facilities in the Middle East. According to reports from Iran's state broadcaster IRIB, the operation struck two locations: the al-Azraq US base in Jordan and the Sheikh Isa US base in Bahrain.
In Jordan, the strikes reportedly targeted areas described as 'housing and welfare facilities' and 'equipment storage sites used by the US military.' In Bahrain, the attacks focused on 'large equipment warehouses' and facilities used for 'heavy aircraft maintenance and repair workshops,' according to Iranian sources.
These attacks represent an escalation in tensions between Iran and the United States in the region. The US military has not yet commented on the reported strikes or confirmed any damage or casualties. Both Jordan and Bahrain host US bases as part of broader security arrangements in the Middle East.
The al-Azraq base in Jordan has been used for counter-Islamic State operations, while the Sheikh Isa base in Bahrain hosts US naval forces. Iran has previously carried out similar drone and missile attacks on US targets in the region, often in response to what it describes as US aggression or in solidarity with regional allies.
