The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has informed the Supreme Court that the final report on the crash of Air India flight AI171 will be submitted by October. The probe body also clarified that the investigation is not an internal exercise limited to officials of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Instead, it involves experts and representatives from other countries whose citizens were among the victims. The AAIB made these submissions in response to a petition seeking a timely and transparent inquiry into the incident. The court had earlier expressed concern over delays in the investigation. The crash occurred earlier this year, and the AAIB has been under scrutiny to ensure a thorough and independent probe. The inclusion of international experts is expected to lend credibility to the findings. The Supreme Court has listed the matter for further hearing after the report is submitted.
