Yemen's Houthi group has claimed responsibility for a missile attack on the southern Saudi city of Jizan. The claim was announced through the group's media channel on Telegram, as reported by international news agencies. Saudi authorities issued warnings to residents in Jizan and the city of Yanbu earlier, urging them to stay alert and avoid gatherings.
Separately, the Houthi Foreign Ministry accused Saudi Arabia of striking civilian infrastructure in the Yemeni port city of Hodeidah, specifically facilities belonging to the Telecommunications Corporation. The Houthis described the strikes as a "dangerous escalation" and warned of further retaliation. Saudi Arabia, however, stated that its attacks targeted military sites, not civilian areas.
The exchange of accusations and attacks has intensified tensions between the Iran-aligned Houthis and the Saudi-led coalition, which has been involved in Yemen's conflict since 2015. Both sides have previously engaged in cross-border attacks, with the Houthis frequently launching missiles and drones into Saudi territory. No casualties were immediately reported from the latest incidents. The situation remains volatile as each side promises to respond to perceived aggression.
