The Eau Claire Express overcame an early home run to defeat the Rochester Honkers 6-2 on Sunday at Carson Park. Starting pitcher Quinten Marsh started the game with a leadoff homer to Rochester's Matt Maize, but quickly settled down. Marsh struck out 10 batters over six innings, allowing only two runs. Teammate Jake Busson provided the key hit, a three-run homer in the fourth inning that put the Express ahead for good. The win moved Eau Claire into first place in their division. The game drew 909 fans. The Express have now won three of their last four games and look to continue their strong play in the Northwoods League season.
