LIV Golf has secured a new lead investor, guaranteeing the breakaway circuit's future beyond 2026, when Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) is set to end its financial backing.
Chief executive Scott O'Neil made the announcement on Wednesday ahead of LIV Golf New York, saying players will become majority equity holders in the league under the new ownership structure.
The move ends speculation about the tour's survival, which had been cast into doubt after the PIF announced on April 30 that it would withdraw funding at the end of the 2026 season.
O'Neil said the new investor will keep LIV Golf operating into 2027 and beyond. The name of the lead investor was not disclosed.
