Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Italian Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani met in Rome on Wednesday to reaffirm their countries' strategic partnership and support for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The talks took place on the sidelines of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution conference. The ministers backed UN Security Council Resolution 2803 and a comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict, stressing interfaith dialogue and a just peace based on a Palestinian state. They condemned settler violence in the West Bank and opposed annexation or forced displacement of Palestinians. On regional security, they emphasized maritime freedom in the Strait of Hormuz, Red Sea, and Bab al-Mandab, praising Italy's role in the EUNAVFOR Aspides mission. They also condemned Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and urged a political settlement in Yemen. Separately, Saudi Arabia's delegation co-chaired the alliance meeting, warning that humanitarian measures alone cannot achieve lasting peace without a political process leading to an independent Palestinian state.
