Deebo Samuel is reuniting with the San Francisco 49ers on a one-year contract worth up to $7 million, according to a person familiar with the deal. The agreement was reached Thursday and was first reported by NFL Network.
Samuel spent his first six seasons in San Francisco before playing last season with the Washington Commanders. His return gives the 49ers an experienced weapon at wide receiver as injuries mount at the position. Starting receiver Ricky Pearsall is sidelined with a knee injury, and Christian Kirk is also dealing with an injury.
The reunion brings back a former All-Pro who was a key playmaker for the 49ers. The team is adding depth while several notable veterans remain unsigned in the ongoing NFL offseason.
