Activist Sonam Wangchuk Opposes Hospitalization During Hunger Strike
By TrendingWire Newsroom
Activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike since June 28 in support of the NEET protest, opposed his hospitalization on health grounds. Authorities moved him to Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi citing concerns for his health and following court orders. However, Wangchuk stated that his fast was a personal choice and objected to the medical intervention.
A video shared by the Cockroach Janta Party shows Wangchuk resisting efforts to hospitalize him. His wife also questioned the decision, arguing that he was taken to the hospital without his consent.
Wangchuk’s hunger strike is part of a larger protest demanding changes to the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), a medical entrance exam in India. The protest has drawn attention to alleged irregularities in the examination process.
The Delhi Police acted after Wangchuk’s health reportedly deteriorated. Despite the intervention, Wangchuk has maintained his stance, insisting that the hospitalization was against his wishes.
Authorities have not commented further on the matter. The situation remains under observation as Wangchuk continues to receive medical care.
