US Strikes Iran-Linked Targets for Eighth Straight Night

By TrendingWire Newsroom

The United States military announced on Saturday that it had carried out an eighth consecutive night of strikes against Iranian-backed forces in the Middle East. The strikes targeted the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which the US says was behind a recent attack on US troops in Jordan. In a statement, the US Central Command (Centcom) said the latest round of strikes hit coastal surveillance and air defense systems, maritime assets, and sites used to store missiles and drones. The goal, according to Centcom, is to further reduce Iran's ability to launch attacks. The strikes come after two US service members were killed in an attack on a US military facility in Jordan on July 17. The US has blamed Iranian-backed groups for that assault. Centcom added that more than 50,000 US troops remain stationed across the Middle East, describing them as "highly vigilant, focused, lethal, and ready." The US has been conducting these strikes in response to ongoing threats from Iran and its proxies in the region. The operations are part of a broader effort by the US to protect its forces and deter future attacks. No further details on casualties or damage from the latest strikes have been released.
