Settlers Attack West Bank Village, Set Mosque on Fire; Israeli Forces Burn Olive Trees
By TrendingWire Newsroom
Israeli settlers attacked the Palestinian village of Tuwani in the occupied West Bank on Saturday, setting a mosque and a vehicle on fire. The attackers also spray-painted a Star of David on the mosque's wall, according to Ihab Hassan, a Palestinian Christian human rights advocate. The incident is the latest in a series of settler attacks on Palestinian communities.
Separately, Israeli forces set fire to dozens of olive trees in the village of Deir Qaddis, west of Ramallah, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported. Soldiers chased Palestinian farmers working on their land, firing live ammunition and tear gas canisters. The gunfire sparked fires that spread across large areas planted with olive trees. Israeli forces prevented civil defence crews from reaching the site to extinguish the flames, allowing the blaze to spread further.
Deir Qaddis and nearby villages have faced repeated Israeli military incursions and ongoing settler attacks targeting Palestinian residents and their property. The incidents highlight the continued tension and violence in the West Bank, where Palestinian communities often face land seizures, home demolitions, and restrictions on movement. The international community has repeatedly called for restraint and adherence to international law.
