Jonathan Levine, known for directing '50/50,' is in negotiations to helm the upcoming sequel to the 1990 NASCAR film 'Days of Thunder.' The project is moving forward at Paramount Pictures, with Tom Cruise set to reprise his role as the stock car driver. Cruise will also produce the film alongside Jerry Bruckheimer, who produced the original. The screenplay has been written by Will Staples. This development follows Bruckheimer's recent hints about a sequel during the press tour for another racing movie. Levine is currently finishing his next film, 'Mr. Irrational,' which stars David Corenswet and is set for release on Christmas Day. No official release date has been announced for the 'Days of Thunder' sequel.
