MGM+ has acquired the rights to the new thriller series 'Embassy' for the United States and multiple international markets. The six-part drama, created and written by Rom Lotan, stars Anna Kendrick as Layla, an American diplomat. Sam Heughan plays her British ex-fiancé, and J.K. Simmons portrays the U.S. ambassador. The series is described as high-octane and action-packed, with John Strickland, known for 'Bodyguard,' attached as director. 'Embassy' was first introduced at the Mipcom market nine months ago by Stuart Ford's AGC Television. The acquisition marks MGM+'s latest move to expand its original programming lineup. The show is expected to begin production later this year, though an official release date has not been announced. Kendrick is also an executive producer on the project, alongside other producers. The series promises a mix of political intrigue and personal drama, set against an international backdrop.
