Jason Cloth, a film producer with credits including 'Joker,' 'Babylon,' and 'Longlegs,' has been indicted on federal fraud charges in connection with an alleged $100 million Ponzi scheme. The 60-year-old Beverly Hills resident operated Canada-based Creative Wealth Media Finance Corp, prosecutors say. A federal grand jury in Chicago indicted Cloth on seven counts of wire fraud for allegedly misleading investors about how their money would be used. According to court documents, Cloth solicited funds for film and television projects but instead diverted the money to other purposes, including repaying earlier investors. The scheme allegedly bilked investors of more than $100 million. Cloth faces decades in prison if convicted. His credits as a financier or executive producer include 'Joker,' 'Babylon,' 'Ghostbusters: Afterlife,' and 'Longlegs.' The case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Northern District of Illinois. Cloth has not yet entered a plea.
