The Los Angeles Sparks have traded five-time All-Star Kelsey Plum to the Phoenix Mercury in a blockbuster deal. In exchange, the Mercury will send forward Monique Akoa Makani, a 2027 first-round draft pick and a 2028 second-round pick to the Sparks.
Plum's departure ends her brief time in Los Angeles. The Sparks acquired her in the 2025 offseason by trading the No. 2 pick in that year's draft, which became All-Star Dominique Malonga. The move was part of an attempt to end the team's rebuild and reach the playoffs for the first time since 2020.
Plum now heads to Phoenix, where she joins a Mercury team looking to contend.
