Telangana Hospitals Warn to Leave New Health Scheme Over Tariff Dispute
By TrendingWire Newsroom
Hospitals in Telangana that are part of the state's Aarogyasri health scheme are threatening to opt out of a new Employee Health Scheme (EHS) due to disagreements over revised tariffs. The hospitals claim that the new rates, based on the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) tariffs, are too low and will make it difficult to provide quality care.
Aarogyasri is a key government health program in Telangana that provides free medical treatment to poor families. The new EHS is designed to cover state government employees, but hospitals say the revised payment rates are not sustainable. If the hospitals leave the scheme, thousands of employees could lose access to affordable healthcare.
The hospitals have warned that they will withdraw unless the government revises the tariffs to more reasonable levels. Negotiations are ongoing, but no agreement has been reached yet. The state government has not commented on the matter, but officials are reportedly in talks with hospital representatives to resolve the issue.
This dispute highlights ongoing tensions between healthcare providers and government schemes over pricing. The outcome could affect the healthcare access for many government employees in Telangana.
For now, the hospitals remain in the scheme but are ready to opt out if their demands are not met.
