Bombay High Court Cancels Bail of Shiv Sena Corporator in Hospital Assault Case

By TrendingWire Newsroom

The Bombay High Court on Thursday cancelled the bail granted to Shiv Sena corporator Ramesh Mhatre and his associates in connection with an assault on doctors and nurses at a hospital in Dombivli. The court ordered Mhatre and his aides to surrender by the evening of July 19. The High Court observed that the magistrate's court had treated the matter too lightly and failed to consider Mhatre's criminal record. The bail was initially granted on July 14. The incident involved attacks on medical staff over alleged delays in patient treatment. The Indian Medical Association had called for a statewide strike to protest the violence. The court has scheduled the next hearing for July 22. Mhatre is a corporator from the Shiv Sena party. The case highlights ongoing concerns about safety of healthcare workers in India.
