Uttarakhand Char Dham Yatra Halted as Heavy Rain and Landslides Threaten Pilgrims

By TrendingWire Newsroom

The annual Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand has been temporarily stopped due to heavy rainfall and the risk of landslides. The Garhwal Commissioner has issued orders to all district magistrates and officials to ensure the safety of pilgrims already on the route. Pilgrims are being accommodated in safe locations until weather conditions improve. Char Dham Yatra is a sacred pilgrimage circuit that includes the four holy sites of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath in the Indian Himalayas. The pilgrimage attracts millions of devotees each year, especially during the summer months. However, the region often experiences heavy monsoon rains from June to September, which can cause landslides, flash floods, and road blockages, making travel dangerous. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have advised pilgrims to stay in place or return to safer areas. The state government has also deployed teams to assist with rescue and relief operations if needed. This precautionary measure aims to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of all travelers. Weather officials have predicted more rain in the coming days, and the yatra will resume only when conditions are deemed safe. Pilgrims are urged to follow official instructions and avoid traveling in hazardous weather.
