A boxer from the tiny Pacific island nation of Tuvalu has won her country's first Commonwealth Games medal without winning a fight, a historic achievement at the 2026 Commonwealth Games. Tuvalu, one of the smallest nations in the competition, celebrated the milestone as its first ever Commonwealth Games medal.
At the same Games, Guernsey bowler Alison Merrien guaranteed the island its first medal of the 2026 Commonwealth Games by reaching the women's singles final in lawn bowls. Merrien is now assured of at least a silver medal.
The two results give both nations their first Commonwealth Games medals of this edition, with Tuvalu's being the country's first ever.
