Saudi Authorities Halt Over 1,100 Smuggling Attempts at Border Points

By TrendingWire Newsroom

Saudi Arabia’s customs authorities have stopped 1,131 smuggling attempts at the country’s land, sea, and air entry points. The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) reported that the seizures included 118 different types of narcotics, such as hashish, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and Captagon pills. In addition to these drugs, officers intercepted 402 prohibited materials and 2,478 tobacco-related products. Officials also uncovered 25 cases of undeclared cash and nine instances involving weapons and related equipment. ZATCA reiterated its dedication to strengthening customs controls on imports and exports in partnership with other government agencies to protect society and boost national security. The authority encouraged the public to assist in combating smuggling by reporting suspicious activities. It noted that all reports are handled confidentially and that informants may receive financial rewards if their information leads to a confirmed customs violation. The latest operations highlight Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to curb illegal trade and maintain border security.
