Buffett: Gates’ Epstein Ties Not Reason for Ending Donations

By TrendingWire Newsroom

Warren Buffett, the billionaire investor and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, stated in a recent CNBC interview that his decision to stop funding the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation was not motivated by Bill Gates’ association with Jeffrey Epstein. Epstein, a financier convicted of sex trafficking, had ties to Gates, which became public after Epstein’s death in 2019. Buffett has been a longtime friend and philanthropic partner of Gates, having pledged much of his fortune to the Gates Foundation over the years. However, in 2021, Buffett stepped down from the foundation’s board and ended most of his donations. Speculation arose that his departure was linked to Gates’ relationship with Epstein. During the interview, Buffett dismissed that theory, saying the decision was based on other factors and had been planned for some time. He did not provide further details on what prompted the change. The Gates Foundation has continued its work in global health, education, and poverty alleviation. Buffett remains one of the world’s most successful investors and is known for his annual shareholder letters and charitable giving. The interview has drawn attention as it sheds light on the relationship between two of the most prominent figures in philanthropy.
