Iranian officials have started emergency water deliveries for about 10,000 people in 20 villages after a US strike damaged a desalination plant in the port city of Jask. The attack on Friday night cut off the water supply in Hormozgan province, according to the governor of Jask, Mohammad Jamaleddini. He said water is now being provided from alternative sources and mobile tankers are being sent to affected areas. The governor added that a stable water supply is expected to be restored within a week. The report was carried by Iran's official IRNA news agency. The strike is the latest in ongoing tensions between the US and Iran. The desalination plant was a key source of drinking water for the region. Emergency efforts focus on ensuring that residents have access to clean water until repairs are completed.
