Ukraine drone strike kills seven at Moscow logistics hub, Russia says
By TrendingWire Newsroom
A Russian official said Saturday that a Ukrainian drone attack killed seven night-shift workers and wounded 24 others at a logistics centre near Moscow. The strike was part of a larger assault that involved 370 drones, most of which were intercepted, according to the city's mayor. The attack targeted a facility in the Moscow region, marking one of the deadliest drone incidents inside Russia since the war began. Kyiv has not claimed responsibility but has repeatedly stated that strikes on Russian soil are legitimate retaliation for Moscow's invasion of Ukraine, which started four years ago. Russia's defense ministry reported that air defense systems destroyed or suppressed many of the drones. However, some penetrated and caused casualties. The incident highlights the ongoing escalation in the conflict, with both sides using long-range drones to hit infrastructure and logistics hubs. The war, which began in February 2022, has seen repeated Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian oil refineries, warehouses, and airfields. Russia continues to target Ukrainian energy and military sites. The attack comes amid a series of diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation, but no ceasefire is in sight. Civilian casualties in Russia have been relatively rare, making this attack noteworthy. The logistics centre is a key node for Russian military supplies, analysts say. The wounded were taken to hospitals, and an investigation is underway.
