Amazon is expanding its Prime Video service by adding video games. Starting Thursday, the company's cloud gaming platform, Luna, will be available inside the Prime Video app. Previously, Luna was a separate app that required a Prime membership to access. Now, Prime members in the US and UK can play games directly through Prime Video on Amazon's Fire TV devices, alongside movies and TV shows.
Luna lets users stream games without needing a console or powerful computer. However, not all games will be included. Popular titles like 'Tomb Raider' and James Bond games will not be part of the service at launch. The move is part of Amazon's broader push to make Prime Video more than just a streaming service for film and television.
By integrating games, Amazon aims to attract more subscribers and keep them engaged with a wider range of entertainment. The integration simplifies access for users, who no longer need to switch between apps. The service is available immediately for eligible Prime members in the US and UK.
