Saudi Arabia Backs Jordanian Plan for Flights Between Amman and Sanaa
By TrendingWire Newsroom
Saudi Arabia has expressed its support for Jordan’s plan to start regular commercial flights between Amman and Sanaa, calling it a humanitarian move that will benefit the Yemeni people and ease travel for civilians. The Saudi Foreign Ministry released a statement on Saturday welcoming the initiative and praising the Yemeni government for approving it. The ministry said the step shows a commitment to making life easier for Yemenis and helping reduce their suffering.
Saudi Arabia urged the Houthi group to support the initiative instead of repeating past actions that have worsened the crisis in Yemen. It also called on the Houthis to avoid any moves that could deepen the humanitarian situation. The kingdom reaffirmed its support for any efforts that bring security and stability to Yemen while respecting its sovereignty.
The internationally recognized Yemeni government also welcomed Jordan’s proposal and promised to help make it successful. It said the plan aligns with earlier government efforts to operate Sanaa International Airport legally and safely through Yemenia Airways, adding that the Houthis have blocked such initiatives before.
Jordan’s Foreign Ministry announced that Royal Jordanian Airlines will run the flights once technical and logistical arrangements are complete. It said the initiative supports Saudi-led peace efforts in Yemen and follows previous agreements on resuming air services between the two countries.
