Iraq Accuses US, Saudi Arabia of Sovereignty Violation, Demands Evidence

Iraq has accused the United States and Saudi Arabia of violating its sovereignty and demanded proof for allegations that attacks against Saudi Arabia were launched from Iraqi territory. Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi canceled his first official trip to Saudi Arabia in protest, according to Al Jazeera. A spokesperson for Iraq’s armed forces commander said that US-Saudi “aggression” had hindered the investigation into the claims. “We demand evidence and proof that attacks were launched from Iraq, but no party has provided any,” the spokesperson told the Iraqi News Agency, as reported by Middle East Eye. The spokesperson added that security leaders are developing a plan to prevent future attacks and protect Iraq’s sovereignty. The US and Saudi Arabia have not publicly presented evidence for their allegations. Iraq’s response marks a significant diplomatic rift between Baghdad and its allies, with the premier’s canceled trip underscoring the tension. The Iraqi government insists that no attacks have been proven to originate from its territory and calls for cooperation rather than unilateral accusations.
