The United States and Saudi Arabia launched joint strikes on weapons and other sites belonging to Iran-aligned militants in Iraq, the American military said, after Saudi Arabia reported intercepting drones fired by Tehran-backed groups at its oil facilities for a second straight day. Meanwhile, influential Iraqi cleric Muqtada al-Sadr urged Iran’s Revolutionary Guard and allied armed groups to stop launching attacks from Iraqi territory, warning they could pull the country into another conflict. Al-Sadr called on Baghdad to assert state control and said “rogue militias must not give our brothers in the Gulf states a pretext to target our sacred land.” He urged all sides to avoid being drawn into “schemes of the Zionist-American enemy” and stressed that Iraq needs peace.
