Saudi Border Guard Seizes Large Quantity of Drugs in Two Regions

Saudi Border Guard authorities have confiscated a large amount of narcotics and illegal pills during two separate operations in the Jazan and Asir regions. In the Al-Aridah sector of Jazan, land patrols thwarted an attempt to smuggle 176 kilograms of hashish and 97,034 regulated medical tablets. In another operation in the Al-Rabwa sector of Asir, patrols arrested five border security violators, who were of Yemeni and Ethiopian nationalities, for attempting to smuggle 100 kilograms of khat. Authorities completed the necessary legal procedures. The seized drugs in Jazan were handed over to the competent authority, while in Asir the suspects and the seized khat were referred to the relevant authority. The Border Guard urged the public to report any information related to drug smuggling or trafficking by calling designated hotline numbers: 911 in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province; 999 in the rest of the Kingdom; 994 for the Border Guard; or 995 for the General Directorate of Narcotics Control. Reports can also be submitted via email at 995@gdnc.gov.sa. Authorities emphasized that all reports are handled with complete confidentiality and that informants bear no legal responsibility. These operations are part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the kingdom.
