US and Iran Trade Strikes After Deadly Attack on US Troops

By TrendingWire Newsroom

The United States and Iran have exchanged military strikes for an eighth consecutive night, following a drone attack in Jordan that killed two American soldiers. The US has targeted sites linked to Iranian forces in Syria and Iraq, while Iran says it launched drones at US military positions in Kuwait. The escalation began after a drone struck a US base in Jordan near the Syrian border, killing two US service members and wounding several others. The US blamed the attack on Iran-backed militant groups. In response, President Joe Biden ordered a series of strikes against facilities used by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and affiliated militias. Iran has denied involvement in the Jordan attack but claimed its recent drone strikes were retaliation for US attacks on Iranian targets. The US military confirmed that its forces intercepted some of the Iranian drones over Kuwait. The ongoing strikes mark a significant increase in tensions between the two countries, which have long been at odds over Iran’s nuclear program and regional influence. Both sides have warned against further escalation, but the cycle of retaliation continues. Analysts say the situation remains volatile, with the risk of a wider conflict in the Middle East. The US has deployed additional forces to the region, while Iran has warned of consequences if its assets are targeted.
