Two Men Shot Dead by ICE Agents in Separate Incidents
By TrendingWire Newsroom
U.S. immigration enforcement actions turned deadly last week when two men were fatally shot by ICE agents during vehicle stops. The incidents have reignited criticism over the use of force in immigration crackdowns. In Houston, Texas, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, 52, was driving to work with his brother and two others when agents followed his car. During a traffic stop, an agent fired through the open passenger-side window, killing him. Six days later, in Biddeford, Maine, Joan Sebastián Durán Guerrero, 26, was stopped at an intersection near a laundromat, a place he often visited with his daughter. Agents shot and killed him inside his vehicle. Both men were unarmed according to reports, though investigations are ongoing. The cases have drawn attention to the Trump administration's heightened immigration enforcement, which includes more aggressive tactics and a surge in arrests. Critics argue that such operations are militarized and endanger lives. Supporters say agents are enforcing the law. The families of the victims have called for justice and transparency. The Department of Homeland Security has said it will review the incidents. Protests have emerged in both cities demanding accountability and changes to enforcement procedures.
