The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has spread to a sixth province, officials said, after a man who had travelled from a neighbouring province died in Bas-Uele. Jean Kaseya, director general of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, said the man had travelled from Isiro, in Haut-Uele province, to Buta, the capital of Bas-Uele, where he died. Bas-Uele had previously been unaffected by the outbreak. Government figures show the outbreak has killed 2,128 people out of about 4,566 recorded cases. The spread came a day after the head of the World Health Organization said the outbreak was on track to become the deadliest ever, surpassing an epidemic more than a decade ago that killed more than 11,000 people.
