US Strike Reported on Iran’s Qeshm Island, Officials Say

By TrendingWire Newsroom

Iranian state media reported early Sunday that a US strike hit a location on Qeshm Island, a large island in the Strait of Hormuz. According to the state news agency IRNA, the office of the governor of Hormozgan province said the strike occurred around 3:40 a.m. local time. Residents in the nearby city of Bandar Abbas and on Qeshm Island reported hearing multiple explosions, but officials said there was no confirmed impact or strike in Bandar Abbas. Local authorities are investigating the blasts. Reports of a missile hitting the Sarmich Bridge, located in Sistan and Baluchestan province, were dismissed by the deputy governor, Salim Kadkhoda, who spoke to IRNA. The US has not officially commented on the incident. Qeshm Island is a strategically important area in the Persian Gulf, often a focal point in regional tensions. The reported strike comes amid ongoing hostilities between the US and Iran, including US airstrikes against Iranian-backed groups in other parts of the Middle East. No casualties or damage have been confirmed yet. The situation remains unclear, with Iranian officials continuing to assess the reports.
